I read a bit this year…
Here they are in chronological order:
- Becoming by Michelle Obama — What a gift to get a glimpse into the life and relationship of an amazing woman, her marriage, and their coming into being. Humbled by how Barak and she have lived.
- Fun Home by Alison Bechdel — I had to read the woman who coined the Bechdel Test for movies. I’m also digging graphic memoir.
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling — Read aloud with the boys.
- Are You My Mother? by Alison Bechdel — Had to get the next installment.
- Inheritance: A Memoir of Geneology, Paternity, and Love by Dani Shapiro — Truly a gift to unravel with a memoirist what she has been trying to grasp through her writing.
- Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince by J. K. Rowling — Snape!
- Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts. by Brene Brown — I started with print from the library then had to hear it in Brene’s voice so got the audio version. Here’s to putting ourselves into the arena!
- The Courage to Be Happy by Sylvia Boorstein — My Buddha Mama doling out wisdom.
- Anger: The Misunderstood Emotion by Carol Tavris — Anger is an emotion of hope — love it. Favorite quote: We make excuses for our vices…
